Ultimately, we all want to be successful but the question is: How do we define success? Some of us may think that acquiring wealth, property, goods, etc. is the goal, but what if we considered a deeper more meaningful definition of success. One that challenges the very essence of who we are, how we connect with the world around us and how we make a difference in the lives of others.

In order to understand and find this path we must first understand ourselves. We must look within ourselves and search for what brings us energy, what excites us, what motivates and inspires us. Chances are these are the things (areas) where we have some level of talent that will bring us closer to our purpose for living.

In his book “Leadership from the Inside Out,” Kevin Cashman challenges us to think about our purpose as deriving from the place where our talents intersect with our values. Therefore, in order to understand our purpose we must first understand our core talents and our driving values. Only then can we uncover this place called “purpose.”

Leadership (as a lifestyle) can be understood as a service to others. Meaning, the higher we go, the more whom we have to serve. How does our Leadership (service to others) coincide with our purpose for living? And how can we create impact and influence in the lives of others through our purpose?
